Alex Fevola was filled with doubt when she turned her life into an open book.
But now as Silver Linings goes into its third print run she wants to do more.
“I’ve never received so many messages about something,’’ she said.
“So many people have connected with it. There was such a high level of doubt the whole way through but the comments have been so positive and are still coming through. It’s been more successful than anyone anticipated and it makes me proud to have hit a nerve with people.
“I’ve definitely got the writing bug now.”
Mum of four Fevola delivered a warts and all read — without a ghost writer — from being a young single mother to first born Mia, meeting AFL great Brendan, separating, reuniting and coping through his many controversies.
“Once you get going you do lose yourself and it’s really enjoyable. All the feedback has made me think about writing another one,’’ she said.
In the book Fevola revealed the painful secret she kept from her daughter Mia for 18 years — that her biological father died from suicide four weeks and four days after she was born. Brendan has raised Mia, and is the only father figure she can remember.
She also touched on the humiliation she felt after it emerged her husband Brendan had an affair with model Lara Bingle, plus the emotions surrounding Brendan’s departure from Carlton, mental health struggles in Brisbane, pitfalls of being in the public eye and times when they hit rock bottom.
Her flourishing business Runway Room will celebrate its 10th anniversary next week.
