PALM Beach Currumbin State High School has inducted 18 past students into its Hall of Fame.
The school held a dinner on Friday night as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations and honoured some of the greatest athletes to come through its ranks.
Here are the athletes inducted:
The school revealed its greatest Australian Rules, netball and football teams earlier this week, along with the full 54-person list of Hall of Fame nominees.
On Friday night the school’s rugby league team of the half century was announced, with a committee of six coaches choosing the final team from a list of 51 NRL players.
Those coaches were Rod Patison, Phil Sutherland, Geoff Bagnall, Aaron Zimmerle, Brad Davis and current coach Tim Maccan.
“We have had 51 NRL Players in 30 Years,” Aaron Zimmerle said.
“Craig Weston was our first and wasn’t until 1992. We have won three national championships and 12 state championships
“The Players statistics speak for themselves, but it is interesting how many great halves we produce.
“In this team alone you have Cody Walker, Jahrome Hughes, Ben Ikin, Craig Weston, Jordan Rankin, Kane Elgey, Jamal Fogarty and then the next generation of Toby Sexton, Tom Dearden, Tom Weaver and Oskar Bryant who we hope make the Reds Hall of Fame in the future.”
