Real estate agent's Dodgeball spoof

JOSH Guok, who handled the $58m sale of his family’s Surfers Paradise hotel the International Beach Resort to high-rise king Harry Triguboff, is selling an acreage site in hotspot Coomera.

Mr Guok bought the 3ha holding at 54 George Alexander Way for $2.11m in 2009, in tandem with David Arcobelli.

He yesterday said the purchase was in anticipation of the arrival of the long-mooted Coomera town centre.

“It took a lot longer arriving than most people expected.”

Mr Guok said the decision to sell the site was in response to a number of approaches from buyers.

Roland Evans, of Canford Real Estate, said the approaches reflected a dire shortage of residential land on the Gold Coast.

“The land’s zoning allows a developer great flexibility, with some of it high density and some medium density.

“The location, almost on the doorstep of the Westfield shopping centre and the Coomera train station, adds to its appeal.”

Mr Guok’s aunt, the late Gertrude Guok, owned both the beachfront Surfers hotel, which is making way for a 76-floor tower, and the Greenmount resort at Coolangatta.

Mr Arcobelli’s grandfather, the late Lorenzo Galli, was responsible for much of the development of residential estates in the Arundel-Parkwood area.
