Fashion designer Wayne Cooper has been charged with assaulting his new wife Elizabeth Adams after an alleged incident in Bondi.
Cooper, 61, is understood to have been staying in Sydney’s eastern suburbs over the weekend, when he was allegedly embroiled in an altercation with Ms Adams, whom he married last year.
Ms Adams went to police on Sunday who began an investigation into allegations of an incident at an apartment complex on Campbell Parade.
Police charged Cooper later that night with one count of assault, and took out an interim Apprehended Violence Order in protection of Ms Adams. He is due to face Waverley Local Court on Thursday.
It is the latest saga in the designer’s tumultuous relationship with Ms Adams.
Three months ago, a Byron Bay magistrate imposed a two-year AVO against Ms Adams, preventing her from assaulting or threatening Cooper.
She must not intentionally or recklessly destroy or damage any property owned by Cooper, or harm any animal that belongs to him, as part of the conditions of the AVO.
The couple, who live in a multimillion-dollar home in the Byron Hinterland, married in December last year, just nine months after they met.
More to come …
