A man has been arrested after allegedly ramming into a police car before crashing into several parked vehicles after failing to stop for a random breath test in Sydney’s inner west.
Police attempted to stop a Mercedes driving on Clarence St, Belfield for the purpose of random testing about 2am on Monday.
A pursuit was initiated when driver of the luxury car is believed to have failed to stop as directed, police say.
While on Bruce Ave, the Mercedes allegedly rammed a police car before crashing into multiple parked cars.
The 47-year-old male driver was uninjured and arrested at the scene. The police officers were also uninjured.
He was taken to Burwood police station, where inquiries are ongoing.
Meanwhile a driver who police believe fled the scene of a serious crash has been arrested in Sydney’s west overnight.
Emergency services responded to reports of a crash on Fluschombe Rd in Blacktown about 10.50pm on Sunday.
On arrival, officers found an abandoned car which had crashed into a pole, with the driver having left the scene before their arrival.
Police established a crime scene and after inquiries, a 41-year-old man was arrested nearby.
He was taken to Blacktown police station where inquiries are ongoing.
