The rich entrepreneur who is in a stoush with council over the compliance of a new deck at his multi-million dollar home says he has done nothing wrong and will fight back.

Sunday Confidential recently revealed Gabriel Jakob built a massive 18 metre by five-metre deck at the back of his waterfront Eastern Suburbs home without DA approval, prompting Woollahra Council to issue him with a Development Without Consent (DWC) notice.

The deck, which had been built at his Wolseley Road, Point Piper mansion, angered some locals residents on Australia’s most expensive street, prompting them to contact local council.

This resulted in a council compliance officer visiting Mr Jakob at his property to investigate the matter last month.

The building work has since ceased.

“Confirming that a development without consent notice has been issued. The owner of the property now has the opportunity to make representations to Council regarding this notice,” a spokesman from Woollahra Council said this week.

However it is believed Jakob has told council he has simply replaced a decaying deck structure adjoining the pool with a new one.

A spokesperson for Jakob says Council now just requires engineering and other documentation to show the works comply, which will be provided in the coming weeks.

Council records show there hasn’t been a DA application for the property since 2018.

Jakob being issued with the DWC comes just a month after his ex-wife, Alexandra Jakob, threw an extravagant $250,000 engagement party at her $100 million property, which is just one door down from Jakob.

The palatial home has previously been owned by convicted killer Ron Medich and more recently, former Channel 7 media commercial director Bruce McWilliam.

A rival publication recently profiled Mr Jakob in August, claiming, “he has founded and sold three businesses for hundreds of millions of dollars, making him one of the most active Australian entrepreneurs in the past five years”.

They also noted the 42-year-old Swede is so media-shy, he would not show his face to photographer’s, instead allowing them to capture a silhouette hiding his identity.
