YOU won’t see her on the world tour anymore but Layne Beachley continues to create waves out of the water.

The seven-time wold surfing champion, who still hits the water daily, has become a powerful advocate for the encouragement of women in sport.

And as she puts its herself, Beachley puts money where her mouth is via personal mentoring and her Aim for the Stars program which offers girls and women the chance to apply for a $4000 grant plus mentoring and training to help them on their way to success.

She also works tirelessly in her sport as chairman of Surfing Australia and conceived, and then ran for seven years, the richest women’s surfing event in the world.

Beachley has earned the Swoop Play of the Week after being honoured for both her stellar surfing career and post-athletic feats when named as this year’s Hall of Famer in the Women’s Health I Support Women in Sport Awards.
