Hawaii ironman champion Mirinda Carfrae’s race for glory by the numbers

SHE is one of the smallest but toughest athletes in the world and Australian Mirinda Carfrae is about to send herself into another world of pain when she contests her eighth Hawaii ironman next weekend.
The petite triathlete from Queensland is bidding to conquer the 1.3km swim, 180km cycle and 42.2km run course for the fourth time for a special place in history.
TURIA PITT READY FOR HAWAII IRONMAN
No Australian has ever won the race four times with Carfrae and Craig Alexander tied on three wins apiece going into the gruelling test which will take her close to nine hours to complete.
Carfrae is one of the favourites heading into the race with fellow Australian Mel Hauschildt also competing.
