PRACTICE definitely makes perfect for Diamonds shooter Caitlin Bassett.
One of the best shooters in the game, Bassett moved to a new level in the final match of the international Quad netball series to earn the Swoop Play of the Week.
She is the second netballer to earn the award after Madi Robinson’s stunning return to international netball almost a fortnight ago.
In the final match of the Quad series against the Silver Ferns, the linchpin of the Australian attack was head and shoulders above the rest.
In the second match of the Quad series, Bassett netted 46 of her 51 shots as the Diamonds took down England.
But just a few days later she was at another level against world No. 2 New Zealand.
Bassett’s haul of 53 goals in the Daimonds’ win set a new record, eclipsing her previous best Test mark of 49 goals.
Bassett joins the likes of Robinson, new WBBL cricketer Renee Straumietis, Matildas captain Lisa De Vanna, Opals and WNBA star Penny Taylor, paddler Jessica Fox, Olympic track cyclist Anna Meares and equestrian Edwina Tops-Alexander as a winner of a Swoop Play of the Day, Play of the Week or Play of the Weekend.
