TALK about a long time between drinks. Twelve years in fact.

That’s the time difference between Lisa De Vanna’s first goal in the Olympic arena and her latest came in Australia’s do-or-die match against Zimbabwe.

The time gap is almost unheard of in any sport but is for a good reason.

De Vanna is the only member left from the Matildas side which played at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

Australia’s failed to qualify for the 2008 Game in Beijing or indeed the London Olympics four years ago.

De Vanna was one of five players to score in the 6-0 win over Zimbabwe with her strike at goal landing within the final minute.

After a six hour wait, the Matildas learned they will face host nation Brazil in Belo Horizonte.

But the captains goal against Zimbabwe has earned her our Play of the Day.
