Another night and another record was broken at the NSW Senior State Age Championships.

Wests Illawarra Athlete Jessica Cole rewrote a record she set at the beginning of the year on her way to claim another gold.

Check out the highlights from night 5!

Victor Strokin - Five hundredths to victory

Sprint races are always exciting to witness, and the boys 13-14 50m backstroke final was no different.

Recent record breaker Lachlan Davies looked calm as he took his mark, diving into a cutthroat battle with City of Sydney’s Victor Strokin.

It was impossible to determine who was ahead during the short race, and only 5 hundredths of a second separated them at the end.

Victor came away with the gold in 27:83, with Lachlan settling for silver with 27:89.

Jessica Cole - Breaking her own records

Jessica Cole didn’t just finish the girls 15 years 100m butterfly with a new, shiny gold medal and the NSW Senior State Age title, she went and rewrote records as well.

But not just any record, the Wests Illawarra swimmer finished the race 1:00:84, beating the very NSW record she set in March this year.

Jessica looked cool and composed, leading from start to finish, with her nearest rival Rafaela Kopellou finishing well behind in 1:03:16.

Charlie Barbour - Cool under pressure

The girls 12-13 years 200m freestyle final was another photo finish, with Warringah Aquatic’s Charlie Barbour taking gold just ahead of Campbelltown’s Denise Grabe.

Charlie looked in control nearly all of the race, leading from the first lap.

However, Denis started pushing harder in the final stanza, as the crowd noise grew louder around the aquatic centre.

Charlie claimed the title in 2:08:49 with just a few tenths to spare.

Luke Higgs - Come from behind gold

Warringah Aquatic’s Luke Higgs makes this list once again after claiming a stellar gold in the boys 13-14 200m freestyle final.

Luke fell behind in the first leg, but then got into his rhythm.

By the third stint, Luke was back in control and at the front of the pack, and by that point there was no stopping him.

He claimed the title in 1:56:89.

Joseph Kim - Ahead of the pack

The boys 13-14 100m breaststroke final was impossible to take your eye off as soon as the swimmers hit the pool.

By the end of the first stint, the whole field had bunched up within a second of each other, and only the timing system could split them.

However, as the boys emerged from the water, Knox Pymble’s Joseph Kim was on a charge, pulling ahead to touch the wall in 1:08:99 and claim gold.
