Night two of the NSW Senior State Age Championships and the atmosphere at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre really ramped up as a state record was broken.

Nearly every athlete was loudly supported by clubs and teammates as they walked up to the starting line for their final, with those in the grandstands seemingly competing as to who was the loudest section.

Here are the highlights from night two.

Olivia Wunsch - Double gold

16-year-old from Carlile Olivia Wunsch looked to be falling behind in the 200m Individual Medley final, lagging in the first few splits.

However, in the final freestyle section, Wunsch came into her element, powering home for the gold medal in a time of 2:19:80, comfortably ahead of Knox Pymble’s Bella Zang, who finished with 2:21:23

Olivia’s second final of the night was more clinical - leading from start to finish in the 50m backstroke to claim her second gold.

Lachlan Davies - Another night, another solid performance

Coming off the back of his ‘Swimmer of the Night’ efforts on Saturday, Lachlan Davies from Warringah Aquatic put on another powerful display to claim the 14 year boys 50m Freestyle title.

Though it’s hard to build up a lead in such a short event, Lachlan just looked so assured in his swim, securing another gold.

Kai Lilienthall - Historic record-breaker

The NSW record for the boys 17 years 50m butterfly, held by Phillip Butcher since 2008 at a time of 24:58 seconds, was broken on Sunday by Knox Pymble’s Kai Lilienthall.

Kai pulled out a full second lead to second placed Riley Powell, to claim both the gold and a new record in 24:46.

Jaslyn Plumer - Cheered on to victory

Supporters from Warringah Aquatic were out in full force for the 12-13 years girls 50m freestyle final, with the cheering from the crowd building through the race.

Jaslyn Plumer didn’t let her club down, edging in front of second place by just .29 of a second to snatch gold with a time of 27:30, to the thunderous applause of the crowd.

Sterling Tuxford - Superb swim of the night

Sterling was the quickest qualifier, but looked to be lagging in the opening laps of the boys 13-14 years backstroke final, with Trinity Grammar School teammate Joshua Jeung and titleholder from Warringah Luke Higgs battling it out between them.

The push to the finish was where Sterling truly shined, forcing a 3-way fight for gold in which he came away the champion with a time of 2:11:13.

The result also secured him Swimmer of the Night.

Samuel Higgs - composed victory

After a solid night one of finals, Sam added another gold to his tally, this time in the boys 13-14 years 800m freestyle.

Despite falling slightly behind in the opening laps of the final, the Warringah Aquatic star kept his composure, and claimed the state age title despite finishing just behind Haileybury’s Tommy Lane.
