Could this be the next golden era of champion swimmers to come out of the nation?

Records have already tumbled across the opening days of the Queensland Swimming Championships held on the Gold Coast, as honours attained by some of Australia’s finest were cast to the wayside.

However some blossoming guns out of Japan and Singapore also sought to make a telling impression.

Some records were threatened but not broken throughout the action, with the St Peters Western Open Women’s 200m medley relay side consisting of 15-year-old Jaclyn Barclay, Abbey Harkin, Brianna Throssell and Shayna Jack falling just 0.24 seconds behind.

The fastest time at the championships was set at 1:51.47 in a team which included Jack, and Australia’s golden sister duo of Cate and Bronte Campbell.

Olympic swimmer Zac Stubblety-Cook also had his Australian record of 2:24.83 beaten in the Boys 13 years 200m backstroke by Shin Ohashi of Japan (2:24.32), however the young gun was unable to beat his compatriot Haruki Nakagawa’s all time record on Aussie shores (2:22.60).
