The atmosphere was buzzing once again for night 4 of the NSW Senior State Age Championships.

Swimming Auckland really brought the excitement, with over 50 athletes from across the ditch competing in the championships for the first time since the pandemic.

Another record was broken, with Warringah’s Lachlan Davies and Carlile’s writing himself into the history books.

Here are all the highlights from night 4.

Olivia Wunsch - Opening perfection

Another masterclass from the Carlile swimmer to kick off the night, as Olivia Wunsch claimed the girls 16 years 50m freestyle senior state age title.

Olivia was last out of the water and established an early lead, and was untouchable throughout the sprint race.

She touched the wall almost a second clear of her rival in a time of 23:32 to secure the gold.

Tane Bidois - Fight to the end

The boys 17 years 50m freestyle final was a thrilling battle between Gabriel Jeffrey from NuSwim, and Knox Pymble duo Kye Lilienthall and Tane Bidois.

They were trading the lead through the 50m race, with Kai and Gabriel only separated by 1 hundredth of a second with 23:73 and 23:74 respectively.

But it was Tane who came out on top, pushing to the end to scrape ahead of the others and claim gold with a time of 23:16.

Heidi Shumack - Untouchable

SOPAC’s Heidi Shumack was never in any doubt of winning the girls 12-13 years 400m individual medley from the moment she dived into the pool.

She led from start to end, pulling out a gap of more than 8 seconds over Carlile’s Isobel Mulcahy ahead of the final lap, and despite Isobel gaining a few seconds before the end, Heidi was untouchable.

Heidi claimed gold in 5:13:59.

Luke Higgs - Never say die

The young Warringah Aquatic star was back to his golden ways in the boys 13-14 400m individual medley final.

Luke led the butterfly leg with a slight lead, but it fell apart in the backstroke, slipping to third place at the halfway mark.

Lachlan Davies - Consistency is record breaking

Warringah’s Lachlan Davies took a deep breath as he prepared to take his mark for the boys 13-14 years 50m butterfly final.

From there, it was never in doubt who would be touching the wall first.
