There has been plenty of great match ups and some entertaining hockey on the opening day of the NSW under 15 girls state hockey championships at Lithgow and there is plenty more to come as the spotlight falls on the rising stars of the sport this weekend.
Teams from across the state hit the pitch on Friday for the first of three action-packed days and the dailytelegraph.com.au livestreamed matches from Field 1 with match replays below.

MATCH RESULTS AND REPLAYS
MATCH 1: DIV 4A, ORANGE 1 SYDNEY EAST 2, 1-0
On a chilly morning at Lithgow, Orange dominated the first match of the tournament.
The 4A match was won 1-0 by Orange who scored courtesy of Laura Lapins in the first half and defended well in the second to take the win.
MATCH 2: DIV 3A TAMWORTH 2 v NORTHERN SYDNEY AND BEACHES 3, 0-0
As the temperature rose to around seven degrees, these two associations took the field for the first outing.
Neither were able to score in the first half and good defence from both saw the score locked at 0-0 at fulltime.
MATCH 3: DIV 3A, ILLAWARRA SOUTH COAST v SOUTHERN HIGHLAND, 0-2
Southern Highlands stamped their authority on this meeting from the start.
The Highlands side went on the attack early with two goal sealing their victory over the Illawarra side.
MATCH FOUR: DIV 4B, NEPEAN V CENTRAL COAST, 0-2
Central Coast took command form the start and were rewarded with a win.
Nepean were unable to penetrate in either the first or second half as Central Coast ran out 2-0 winners in their first game of the tournament.
Jonti Adamson was a standout, scoring twice for Central Coast.
MATCH FIVE: DIV 3B, NEWCASTLE 2 V GOULBURN DISTRICT 2, 2-0
In an entertaining match, Newcastle scored twice to run out winners against Goulburn.
Noa Fraai and Ella Howitt put their names on the scorecard for Newcastle on the opening day.
MATCH SIX: DIV 1A, TAMWORTH V PARKES 1, 2-0
Tamworth broke through in both halves of this tussles with Parkes to start the NSW championships in fine style with a 2-0 win.
Eliza Kearney and Elizabeth Ray did the damage.
MATCH SEVEN: DIV 4A, PARKES 2 V SYDNEY EAST, 0-0
An entertaining match despite neither team being able to score in this first day draw between a city and regional association.
There will be some tired bodies after this with both teams working for the win right until the final whistle.
MATCH EIGHT: DIV 1B, METRO SOUTH WEST 1 V GRAFTON, 0-0
The even competition was obvious from the number of scoreless draws on day one.
But there was still plenty to enjoy in another great city v regional battle.

MATCH 10: DIV 1A NORTH WEST SYDNEY V TAMWORTH 1, 0-0
MATCH 11: DIV 1A, PARKES 1 V NORTHERN SYDNEY & BEACHES, 1-9
MATCH 12: DIV 1B: GRAFTON V ILLAWARRA SOUTH COAST, 3-2
MATCH 13: DIV 1B, SYDNEY SOUTH V METRO SOUTH WEST
MATCH 14: DIV 1A, SYDNEY EAST 1 V NORTHERN SYDNEY & BEACHES, 0-0
MATCH 15: DIV 1B, GOULBURN DISTRICT V ILLAWARRA SOUTH COAST, 2-3
