MEN around the country breathed a collective sigh of relief as Olena Khamula was set free from The Bachelor last Wednesday night.
Olena it seems, breathed one too.
“It’s over finally,” the 23-year-old from Greenacre said.
“When I went to Bali ... I didn’t think it was going to work and didn’t think he was in love with me, so I cut it off.”
Last Thursday during the final, filmed in Indonesia, single-mum Alex Nation was given the final rose.
Social media went into meltdown as favourite Nikki Gogan got the boot - one Twitter user even called on the Prime Minister to step in.
Since filming wrapped up, Khamula said she hasn’t been in contact with Richie out of respect to the winning lady, but said she holds no ill-feelings towards the 31-year-old oil rig worker.
“He has a great personality but I think we work more as friends,” she said.
Last week Australia cheered Khamula’s honesty after she said a long-distance relationship with Richie would be a “huge mess” for her.
“Olena is just a walking truth bomb to Richie’s cliches,” Floss the Fangirl tweeted.
Despite admitting she’s had a few secret dates since the show, Olena said she’s now “free as a bird.”
She hopes to go back to working as a freelance make-up artist.
But as for the The Bachelor, Khamula has no regrets.
“I didn’t come out with a man, but I did come out with a couple of friends,” she said.
“I’d never do anything differently — I’d definitely do it again.”
