A man has been charged over a shocking crash which left a teen seriously injured, while a little girl is in hospital after she was hit by a car on her way home from school.

MAN CHARGED AFTER TEEN HURT IN CRASH

A man driving a Mercedes AMG has been charged after he allegedly veered onto the wrong side of the road and crashed into a teenage female motorist.

A 17-year-old girl driving a Toyota Corolla was seriously injured at 11.10pm on September 5 when a Mercedes A45 AMG allegedly veered onto the wrong side of Tom Uglys Bridge in Blakehurst and struck her car.

A Mitsubishi SUV and a Land Rover SUV were both hit in the resultant collision.

The teen was trapped in her car for some time and suffered leg and internal injuries before she was taken to St George Hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

The 24-year-old Mercedes driver was arrested at Campsie police station on September 22 and charged with dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is to appear at Burwood Local Court on October 20.

GIRL HIT BY CAR AFTER RUNNING ACROSS ROAD

A six-year-old girl is in hospital after she was hit by a car as she walked home from school.

Sutherland Shire police said the girl was with her mother and other children and parents on Kingswood Rd in Engadine prior to the incident.

“The child has tried to cross the road without her mother and ran into the path of an oncoming vehicle,” police stated on Facebook.

“The child was struck and has sustained non-life threatening injuries – she was conveyed to Randwick Children’s Hospital.”

The driver was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing and the incident is now being investigated by police.

St George police are appealing for public assistance to locate a man reported missing from St George.

Utsav Sunuwar, 24, was last seen at an Arncliffe address and has not been seen or heard from for at least six months.

The man’s family and police hold concerns for his welfare after police were notified he was missing on September 11.

Utsav is described as being of Sub-Continental appearance, slim and with short bleached hair.

Anyone who may have seen Utsav, or has information about his whereabouts, is urged to call Kogarah Police on 8566 7499, Hurstville Police on 9375 8599 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

MAN CRITICAL AFTER CRASHING BIKE INTO UTE

An investigation is underway after a cyclist struck a parked vehicle in Sutherland on Tuesday.

Just after 7.45am, emergency services attended Rawson Ave after reports a cyclist had been seriously injured.

Police have been told the cyclist was riding along Rawson Ave before he crashed into the rear of a parked utility.

A 46-year-old man was treated at the scene, before being taken to St George Hospital in a critical condition.

Sutherland Shire Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

YOUNG MAN INJURED IN BUILDING SITE FALL

A man is in hospital after an accident at a Caringbah construction site on Wednesday morning.

NSW Ambulance reported the 25-year-old worker fell 5m into a hole at the construction site at the former Caringbah High School grounds on Willarong Rd.

He was taken to St George Hospital in a stable condition.

THREE ARRESTED AFTER CAR THEFT INVESTIGATION

Five people were arrested in Caringbah on Tuesday after police recovered three allegedly stolen cars from across the Shire.

Sutherland Shire Police Area Command said investigations were continuing in a brief statement on Facebook.

“It is interesting to note that in many cases people left their vehicle unlocked with valuable items in full view,” they stated.

“Lock your vehicle and remove all items which will reduce your chance of becoming a victim.”

Police said it is motorists’ responsibility to lock and secure their vehicles.
