Northies: Jordan Goddard charged over police assault club

A drunk young man who spat in a cop’s face after he was kicked out of Northies was already in strife with police for contravening an AVO for his ex-partner’s protection.

Jordan Goddard, 20, has faced court on a laundry list of charges including contravening an AVO, trespassing, property damage and resisting arrest.

A drunk young man who spat in a cop’s face smirked and said he had “everything, AIDS and herpes” following his arrest for jumping a hedge to re-enter a pub after he was kicked out.

Jordan Goddard is just 20 years old – but his rap sheet already includes a laundry list of alarming criminal misbehaviour which includes assaulting his girlfriend, attempting to break into her friend’s home, assaulting two pub workers and spitting on police.

Goddard faced Magistrate Michael Crompton at Sutherland Local Court on September 17 for sentence on a string of new charges which constituted multiple breaches of previous court orders.

The Cronulla man was hit with eight charges after a wild incident at Northies Cronulla when Goddard was thrown out for being drunk and disorderly.

He narrowly avoided full-time prison after the court heard he assaulted a Northies security guard then resisted four police officers and spat on two others on November 30 last year.

“(After he was asked to leave the pub) Goddard was observed to jump the front wall of Northies, where he was approached by security and asked to leave,” police facts state.

“He became aggressive and was subsequently apprehended by the security guard, who called police.”

Goddard then kicked the security guard in the leg twice, wrestled repeatedly with police during his arrest and then spat on two officers as they bundled him into an ambulance for medical treatment after he bashed his head against the Sutherland police station cell door.

“(After he spat on the officer’s face) the constable asked ‘be honest, do you have anything?’,” police facts state.

“Goddard laughed and smirked towards the police officer before replying ‘I’ve got everything, AIDS and herpes’.”

Goddard was sentenced to a 15-month intensive corrections order for assaulting the Northies security guard and a 12-month intensive corrections order for assaulting the two constables.

He also received an 18-month community corrections order for resisting the four officers and a $300 fine for re-entering Northies after he was booted out.

While he was on bail for the Northies incident, Goddard visited his ex-girlfriend’s Caringbah South home in defiance of an apprehended domestic violence order imposed to protect her after Goddard assaulted her in 2018.

“On May 24 this year, (Goddard’s ex-girlfriend) received a phone call from a number she did not recognise and she immediately recognised the male’s voice to be Goddard’s,” police facts state.

“Goddard asked her for a lift home, to which she responded no – the accused attempted to open her gate and the victim said ‘Jordan, what are you doing here, you know I have an AVO on you’.”

Later that night Goddard messaged her friend – his neighbour of 14 years – to apologise for an earlier incident on May 5 where he broke her stair railing by standing on it and attempted to enter her Cronulla home via the sliding doors on her backyard balcony.

“Goddard sent a text saying ‘sorry for trying to break into your house’,” police facts state.

Goddard was sentenced to a 12-month community corrections order for contravening the apprehended domestic violence order, a nine-month community corrections order for destroying his neighbour’s stair railing and a $200 fine for entering enclosed lands.

Goddard was also re-sentenced for a prior incident at Gymea Hotel in August 2019 during which he jumped up on the stage, touched the band’s equipment, then spat at the hotel manager when he was ejected from the venue.

Mr Crompton sentenced Goddard to an 18-month community corrections order for common assault and a $300 fine for re-entering the venue after he was excluded.

The court heard he is currently in treatment for alcohol addiction.
