A man has tragically died after a two-car crash on a notorious road in Sydney’s south. At least four people have now died on Heathcote Rd since the start of the year.

A man has died after a fatal two-car crash on a notorious road in Sydney’s south.

A Mazda 2 travelling west and an Audi Q3 travelling east collided on Heathcote Rd near the Princes Hwy in Heathcote at about 11pm on Sunday.

The male Mazda driver, who police believe to be aged 40, sadly died at the scene.

The male Audi driver, a 38-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory testing.

Sutherland Shire police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner and anyone with further information about the incident is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers.

At least four people have now died on Heathcote Rd between Holsworthy and Heathcote this year.

In January NSW Police Constable Timothy Proctor was tragically killed in a two-car smash after a car drifted onto the wrong side of the road near Lucas Heights as he left a session at a nearby training facility.

The woman driving the other car sadly died in March.

In April a man died after his car collided head-on with a cement truck on Heathcote Rd near Sandy Point.

In January on nearby New Illawarra Rd beloved local father Paul Brock, 63, was also killed in a fatal crash with alleged disqualified driver Justin Lynch.
