A Sydney man had already been caught driving disqualified after multiple drug and drink driving charges when he allegedly crashed a stolen car and killed a devoted local dad earlier this year, a court has heard.

Justin Lynch, 26, allegedly left extensive carnage in his wake after the fatal crash on New Illawarra Rd in Lucas Heights on January 5, which killed one man, injured two others and destroyed three cars.

Heathcote man Paul Brock, 63, was tragically killed in the smash, while Lynch was flown with abdominal injuries from the scene to St George Hospital.

A 21-year-old Cronulla man travelling with Lynch was also treated at Liverpool Hospital for minor injuries and the male driver of a second 4WD involved in the crash escaped unharmed.

Lynch has been in custody since he was charged on January 13 with dangerous driving causing death, negligent driving causing death, driving while disqualified for the second time and stealing the ute involved in the devastating crash.

Police will allege Lynch should not have even been on the road as he was disqualified after previous convictions for high range drink driving and drug driving.

When Lynch’s solicitor applied for bail before Magistrate Peter Stewart at Sutherland Local Court in January the prosecution submitted there was a strong case against the Sutherland man.

The police prosecutor also submitted Lynch was subject to a curfew and had previously breached his bail after his earlier driving offences.

Lynch will face Sutherland Local Court via audiovisual link on May 27.
