Driver killed in fatal head-on crash on Heathcote Rd near Sandy Point
A motorist has tragically died after their car collided head-on with a cement truck and caught alight on a notorious road in Sydney’s south. It is the second fatal accident on Heathcote Rd since January.
A motorist has tragically died after their car collided head-on with a cement truck and caught alight on a notorious road in Sydney’s south.
A driver who is yet to be identified slammed into the cement truck about 2.30pm today on Heathcote Rd near St Georges Crescent at Sandy Point.
The driver died at the scene, where the car caught alight after the impact.
The male truck driver was taken to Liverpool Hospital with a minor hand injury and will also undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.
Liverpool City Police Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with a report for the Coroner to follow.
Heathcote Rd is closed in both directions and drivers are urged to avoid the area.

It is the second fatal crash on Heathcote Rd since January after Liverpool City police officer Constable Timothy Proctor was tragically hit and killed as he left a training facility near Lucas Heights on January 31.
The female driver who struck him after drifting onto the wrong side of the road later died of her injuries in hospital on March 7.
A man was also killed on nearby New Illawarra Rd in a tragic three-car smash on January 5.
