CONNOR Gilbert is a high performing young cricketer, who is also a handy footballer and is about to be go up for his black belt in karate.
The Beaumont Hills fast bowler was the leading wicket taker in the under 13 group in the competitive Parramatta cricket competition, snaring 34 wickets a very tidy average of 5.59.
His finest spell last season was 5-4-2-6 against Pendle Hill Colts.
If that was not enough for this week’s Junior Sports Star nominee, Connor also smashed a quick fire 114 to record his first century in the competition.
Connor has the rare ability of also excelling inn different sports, being a regular with the Newbury Bulls football team, and is close to securing a black belt in mixed martial arts while representing Kellyville Public School at state level in discus throwing.
But it is in cricket that Connor’s talent has been really blooming.
“This is my best season in cricket and I am enjoying the challenge,” Connor said.
“Out of the all sports I do, cricket is the most fun and I really want to play at the highest level.”
“I am now playing winter cricket with Partarmatta Vikings”
Having picked up bowling just three years ago, Connor has improved leaps and bounds with his fast bowling.
His first season he picked up just two wickets before capturing 21 in his second and then reaching a very impressive 34 victims in the 2015/16 season.
