SARAH Olsen is riding the crest of success in equestrian events but one of her biggest achievements has been her remarkable training of her new horse.
The Riverstone rider, who took out the 2014 Rouse Hill Times Young Achiever Award, has turned a virtually untrained horse, We Love Lola, into a champion, with the duo now among the top rated entries in state and national events in the 15-18 age groups.
“This is the first time this horse has been ridden in the children’s category but she has done very well this year,” Sarah said.” She is a lovely eight-year-old horse.”
This week’s nominee for the Junior Sports Star Award — proudly sponsored by Rebel — is enjoying her best-ever season.
“This is so far an amazing season and I am ecstatic with my runner-up position at the Equestrian Australia Horse of the Year event probably my best as it was a tough competition,” Sarah said.
“I now hope to qualify for the inter-school nationals in Sydney in September and the Equestrian Australia Nationals in December.
At the East Coast Arabian Championships 2016, the largest Arabian show in Australia, Sarah took out several awards, including the triple crown elementary dressage and champion at state, nationals and east coast and runner-up.
She was runner-up at the Canberra Royal Show 2016 while being the champion pony club rider (13-17years group). She also won two titles at the Bathurst Royal Show.
Her ultimate goal is to ride at the Olympics and Sarah is certainly on the right track.
