JORJA Hamilton is determined to run rings around the competition.
The young sporting prodigy began taking part in Parramatta Park Run three years ago, after joining her mother in running has now been nominated as a NewsLocal Local Sports Star.
The 11-year-old athlete realised her passion and ability in the sport and even took out the Mother’s Day Classic in her age category this year, as well as the Bare Creek 10km Trail run.
“What I love most about Park Run is the momentum I get from running with mum and my friends,” Jorja said.
“I am always looking to better my running times, so this is also a big inspiration to get better.”
But the Local Sports Star nominee said her Park Run experience is all about bettering her competition and supporting other runners on the track.
“I love encouraging others in the run, when they are struggling I tell them they are doing well or nearly finished and it motivates them to keep pushing,” she said.
“I run against my PB each week at Park Run and I push myself to beat the boys.”
The youngster said she would love to compete in the Olympics one day, but for now she is happy to compete as a “home runner”, like her mum.
