NSW Premier Cricket: Rd 3 Players of the Week, wrap, Sydney first grade results, records

A 20-year-old continues to turn heads while a rising star found form in round three of NSW Premier Cricket. Sydney first grade wrap, Players of the Week and full results.

Just one player racked up a century in an interesting - and at times soggy - third round of NSW Premier Cricket where the generation next of the sport stole the limelight.

Mosman heads the Belvidere Cup ladder with three wins from the first three outings of the season with their latest victory coming off the back of one of their youngest and brightest stars in Lachie Hearne.

The Whales are just one of four clubs to boast a perfect record after three rounds of Premier Cricket in Sydney with Northern Districts, St George and Sydney also winning their third matches on Saturday.

UTS North Sydney is fifth, Eastern Suburbs are sixth, Gordon are seventh on the leaders board and Randwick Petersham eighth.

All these clubs have two wins from the first three games of the season.

Only Blacktown Mounties and Campbelltown Camden are without a win to date.

MOSMAN CRICKET YOUNG GUN LACHLAN HEARNE STARS

Identified as a star of the future when elevated from a NSW rookies contract for the 2021/22 season, Lachlan Hearne was one of the guns of Sydney first grade on the weekend.

Hearne, who made his first-class debut for the Blues last season, came in for Mosman at 1-0 after two balls of Mosman’s innings against Sutherland.

He stayed in to make 105 not out and with Jordan Cox inspired Mosman to 2-184 and their victory against Sutherland

It was the sixth first grade century for Hearne, a left-handed top-order batsman and considered one of the brightest talents in the state.

JOEL DAVIES HITS HIS STRAPS FOR MANLY WARRINGAH

Over on the northern beaches another young gun helped his team, to victory in Sydney first grade.

The schoolboy, who is the younger brother of BBL and Sheffield Shield player Ollie Davies, came out hard against Western Suburbs as Manly Warringah chased their first win of the season.

After a forgettable first grade debut a week earlier, Davies found form to score 70 and left the pitch as the top scorer of the match.

NSW PREMIER CRICKET ROUND 3 PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Lachie Hearne and Joel Davies were among a host of standout players who have made the Player of the Week list.

Hearne was joined at 2-4 by teammate Jordan Cox, who made 70 not out. The pair took Mosman to their 2-184 and victory over Sutherland after 28.2 overs.

Justin Avendano (UTS-North Sydney) needed just one run to bring up 5000 first-grade runs. He did it easily with his 29 taking him to 5028 runs at 37.80.

Jack Preddey from Easts faced the last over from UNSW requiring five runs for victory.

He took 0, 2, 2, 2 to win with two balls remaining. This left him on 98 not out and was his 10th first-grade half-century.

In a standout bowling performance, UNSW’s Declan White took 6-44, his fifth five-wicket performance.

St George cricketer Jonathon Craig Dobson had the second best bowling figures of the day with his 6-45 against Penrith in only his 12th first grade match. .
