An L-PLATER has been charged with mid-range drink driving and a string of other offences after he flipped his car at Whale Beach last Thursday morning.
Police say the 18-year-old learner driver was driving along Whale Beach Rd at around 3:25am when he failed to negotiate a left-hand bend, hit the gutter and then flipped the car on to it’s roof.
Fortunately the driver and passenger — who allegedly did not hold a full driver’s license — were unharmed in the accident.
The Whale Beach man was breath tested by police and allegedly returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.124 — over twice the legal limit.
Learners and P-platers are not allowed to have any blood alcohol reading.
Learners must also drive with someone with a full driver’s license.
The man was charged with mid-range drink driving, negligent driving as well as being an unaccompanied driver.
The 18-year-old’s learner’s license was also immediately suspected by police.
