A NORTHERN beaches mum, who crashed her car while her small child was in the back seat, has been charged with driving at more than three times the legal limit.
The woman, 37, smashed into two parked cars in Cromer Heights while trying to drive just a few hundred metres to her home after attending a family party.
Police said the woman crashed in Macquarie St soon after leaving a house in nearby Denison Pl about 9.30pm on Saturday.
Her five-year-old daughter was in the back seat of the silver Fiat. The woman’s father, 60, was in the front passenger seat.
“She was on her way to her home in Woodward St, only a few hundred metres from where the family gathering was held, when the incident occurred” a police spokesman said.
The woman allegedly lost control of her car on a 90-degree right-hand bend in Macquarie St and crashed into the back of a silver Holden Commodore.
Police said the Commodore was pushed into another parked car.
The woman allegedly told police that she had consumed three “larger than usual” glasses of wine before getting behind the wheel.
Residents called police and NSW Fire & Rescue. No one was injured in the smash.
The woman was arrested after a roadside breath test. A subsequent breath analysis recorded a
blood alcohol reading of 0.171.
She was charged with high-range drink driving. Her licence was suspended.
The woman will appear in Manly Local Court on November 28.
