A DAY of giving nationwide, DoSomething Day, has inspired the Randwick Bowling Club to give back to its community by hosting the annual Easy Breathing Lawn Bowls Day.

Zakh Hussein, from Kings Park, was an ice addict who turned his life around and in a random act of kindness decided to cook and give food to the homeles instead of going clubbing on the weekend.

Ex ice addict feeds the homeless

IT was a turning point for Zakh Hussein when he “felt his heart turn black” and believed he was about to die. After kicking his ice habit, he started cooking for the homeless.

Celebrating a day of giving

FROM small gestures as simple as buying a coffee for a stranger, helping out at a school for the disabled and baking pies for the homeless, good deeds were celebrated for DoSomething Day on Wednesday.

All hands on deck

Every weekend Peter Munro is joined by more than a dozen volunteers helping to clean the Cooks River in what has become a regular community project.
