CENTRAL Coast Mariners defender Antony Golec has thrown his support behind DoSomething Day, encouraging Coasties to get out and “do a good deed”.
Golec, who is currently recovering from a broken leg which he suffered at the back end of the most recent A-League season, volunteers his time with the RSPCA helping to care for all creatures great and small.
“I give up my time because I have a passion for animals,” he said.
“I like to help out with my free time because it’s something I like doing — it puts a smile on my face.
“I’m sure it makes the animals happy as well.”
The 28-year-old said it was important to volunteer your time to help out every day of the year, but that supporting DoSomething Day on July 25 was a good start.
And while supporting the RSPCA is his way of giving back, Golec said pitching in in any form and for any cause was worthwhile.
“It’s always nice to do a good deed,” he said.
“The best reward is making people happy and helping out and doing your part.
“That’s what’s important really.”

DoSomething Day founder Jon Dee said: “There are many charities, causes and organisations that need our help. This DoSomething Day, why not choose a charity or community group that you can support throughout the year?”
