DoSomething Day 2018

SOCIETY tends to quickly judge those that go without, particularly people living on the streets and people who are in need of a helping hand just to get by.

Shoebox Revolution take a slightly different approach — they do everything within their power to make sure those less advantaged than us get that helping hand and live as normal a life as possible.

The organisation encourages members of the community to get involved through a simple premise — grab an old shoe box and fill it with a few essentials that could help someone who is living on the street.

The main items that are needed are non-perishable foods, toiletries and warmth.

There are currently 12 drop of locations around the Central Coast, including Diggers @ The Entrance, where Marketting Manager Tara Muir says they are proud to get behind DoSomething Day and join the cause.

“It never ceases to amaze me the generosity of our ‘Diggers’ family,” she said.

“It’s been amazing how much our locals have really jumped on board with Shoebox Revolution, our donation bin is often filled to the brim.

“It’s really great to see the local community coming together to help those who need it most, it’s one of the things Coasties do best.”

Shoebox Revolution currently provide up to 220 care packages each month to 13 welfare services around the Central Coast as well as on the streets one night per week directly delivering to the homeless.
