Blacktown, Mt Druitt child sex offenders: Most shocking crimes listed

A disturbing number of offenders have been caught with child sex material across Sydney’s western suburbs. Here’s a list of some of the most shocking crimes.

Should Australia introduce a public sex offenders register?

They’re some of the most shocking crimes which involve some of the most vulnerable victims and are committed behind closed doors in homes across western Sydney.

As the internet and smartphones have become more commonplace, police have had to tackle a rise in child abuse material being produced, shared and downloaded online.

In the past two years, western Sydney courts have brought many offenders to justice for their disturbing child sex material crimes.

Here are some of the most shocking case involving offenders convicted and soon to be convicted of child abuse material and child sex crimes in the Blacktown region.

A Marayong man was living just streets away from a primary school when he was found with tens of thousands of videos and images of child sexual abuse.

Bryan Grange, 38, was arrested after an Australian Federal Police investigation in October 2019.

A raid on his suburban home uncovered a stash of child abuse material stored on laptops, data storage devices and DVDS, amounting to 190,000 images and videos.

He has admitted to raping and indecently assaulting three infants and using them to create child sex abuse material.

Grange also came clean on his purchases of horrific child sex material online through a paid subscription service on the dark web, similar to Netflix.

Among the dozens of charges against Grange that is the most serious – sexual intercourse with a child under 10 years old – which carries life imprisonment.

He will be sentenced this month.

COLIN WAYNE CASSAN

A grandad was found with hundreds of images and gifs depicting child abuse when police raided his home near Mt Druitt last year.

Colin Wayne Cassan, 53, of Blackett, went to great lengths to hide his secret interest in images of children being sexually abused by tapping into his neighbour’s Wi-Fi and using a fake name.

Despite his efforts, police officers uncovered a stash of 256 images showing children as young as toddler age engaged in sexual acts.

Most disturbingly, police found a photoshopped image of a child known to Cassan whose head had been edited onto the naked body of an unknown child.

Cassan pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing child abuse material and was jailed for a maximum of two years and three months.

A child porn offender who only narrowly avoided jail last October was thrown behind bars again after he was found with 450 images of child abuse on his PlayStation.

Sam Piccinelli, 25, was found with the sickening material which was uncovered during a random child protection inspection, just months after he was placed on the child protection register.

Some of the disturbing material included anime images of pre-pubescent girls and real images of a six-month-old baby.

Last October, Piccinelli received a community corrections order after he admitted to possessing 600 images and animations depicting naked, pre-pubescent children with naked adults.

He pleaded guilty to possessing child abuse material and failing to comply with his sex offender reporting obligations and will be eligible for release as early as next month.

A convicted child sex offender had only been free from jail for several weeks over the rape of a teenage girl when he was caught browsing disturbing incest and bestiality material online.

Arthur Alliband, 32, had been banned from watching pornography as part of his parole conditions after being released from jail last October.

Alliband’s earlier crimes sparked outrage after he was jailed over a terrifying sex attack on a 16-year-old after he plied her and her 15-year-old friend with alcohol at a park in Seven Hills in 2016.

The serial offender had only been released from jail on the morning of the attack after serving a prior jail sentence for having sex with a 13-year-old girl.

A check of Alliband’s phone revealed he had viewed child abuse material involving teenage girls in incestuous settings and involving acts of bestiality.

He was jailed for a further 10 months.

A wheelchair-bound man was allowed to serve his jail sentence in a nursing home after was found with dozens of explicit images of his ex-wife’s grandkids.

The Blacktown man, who cannot be names for legal reasons, admitted to possessing child abuse material and using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend after a court heard he had embarked on a years’ long campaign to exact revenge on his two ex-wives.

The 68-year-old was found with 60 images on a USB of his ex-partner’s grandchildren, taken at a wedding when they were aged 11 and three, which he had captioned with sexually graphic comments about the children.

He also admitted to uploading sexually explicit photos of his ex-wives and their daughters on the internet, captioned with their personal details, including their addresses and phone numbers.

A magistrate found the man unsuitable for full-time jail due to his substantial care needs and he was allowed to serve out his sentence in a Blacktown nursing home.

He was given an intensive corrections order for nine months and ordered to enter into a community corrections order for two years and three months.
