Donna Sell pleads guilty to affray and discharging a firearm after northern suburbs brawl

The violent encounter outside an Elizabeth Vale home was caught on CCTV — and so was much of the fallout.

Wild affray in the northern suburbs between feuding groups

A mother-of-two has now admitted to a terrifying daylight shooting after a northern suburbs brawl between feuding groups.

Donna Maree Sell, 38, pleaded guilty in the District Court on Friday to aggravated affray, discharging a firearm intending to damage property and possessing a prescribed firearm, namely a loaded sawn off shotgun.

A violent brawl kicked off between two groups at an Elizabeth Vale house on January 21, last year.

Sell’s partner, Andrew Goulding can be seen on CCTV footage entering the property yelling “come on, you fat f***,” before using a baseball bat to smash windows of a car in the driveway.

Another man then smashed the car windscreen with a paver, while Sell and two other people also walked onto the property.

Three people exited the house, holding a hammer and metal pole.

Sell can be seen throwing a can at a person during the affray, which didn’t hit him.

Goulding was struck with a pole in the brawl, which broke his arm and he was taken to hospital.

Police allege some of the group reattended the Elizabeth Vale house shortly after they left.

Sell can then be seen on CCTV holding a shotgun which she fired into the garage door.

A daylight shootout between speeding cars on heavily populated Main North Rd followed – which Sell isn’t charged with.

She initially pleaded not guilty to the charges and was due to face trial next court after her counsel told the court there were identification issues as the CCTV footage was grainy.

Goulding, of Smithfield, pleaded guilty to property damage and affray and was handed a suspended sentence.

Police then attended Sell’s Smithfield home on July 25, last year after receiving information she was in possession of a firearm.

They conducted a search of the premises and found a firearm in the garage which had been concealed inside a pillow case that had been pushed into a PVC pipe.

Ammunition was also found in the pillow case.

Sell, who pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, was jailed in June for two years and 11 months, with a non-parole period of one year and eight months for that offending.

On Friday, Sell’s charges were adjourned until February for sentencing submissions.
