Police are appealing for information after two groups of young children were repeatedly approached by a man in a coastal town near Coffs Harbour.

About 4pm on Thursday, April 4, two girls, both aged 10, were leaving a shop on Lawson St, Red Rock, when a man gestured at them to approach him.

The girls ignored the man and walked away.

Police said that soon after, just before 5pm, a girl, 9, and a boy, 7, were walking along Park St, when a man pulled up in a vehicle and spoke to them.

The pair ran away, but the man is reported to have persisted in his attempts to reach them.

According to police, he approached them and spoke to them once more before the pair ran away for the second time.

About 5.15pm, the same man was seen hiding in bushland at Red Rock’s Little Beach.
