The Daily Telegraph can reveal the insider details of the first moments share between Sophie Monk and Laundy in a dramatic episode of the reality show.
“He steps out of the helicopter carrying a bottle of champagne and two glasses and walks over to her and a recognition dawns on her face,” the insider said
“She asks if she has met him before and they chat away about the time she stood him up earlier this year.
“She apologises for not going on the invited date the first time.”
More details have also emerged about how the Sydney-based bachelor ended up on the show.
A source close to Laundy said he contacted producers scoping out the run of the show after it was announced that Monk would be the Bachelorette.
“One of Stu’s mates was actually the one approached to be on the show,” the insider revealed.
“He considered it, but ended up deciding not to go through with it, but he knew the right guy.
“The mate suggested that the producers approach Stu because he has been obsessed with Sophie for years.”
Laundy, who is separated from his wife Rachel, jumped at the chance to be on the show and compete for the former popster’s heart.
Confidential has previously reported that Laundy and Monk were set to go on a date earlier this year, but they never went through with it. While his appearance on the show has been a poorly kept secret, one person who was out of the loop was Channel Nine presenter Samantha Heathwood, who was casually dating Laundy before he went on the show.
A friend of Heathwood’s said although things were very low-key between the pair, she only found out about his involvement when paparazzi shots of him on set emerged.
“He went silent on her, then the next thing he was on the show,” the friend said.
Laundy is one of four intruders who will first appear on The Bachelorette tonight.
