BYRON Bay is about to add another Hollywood A-lister to its increasingly exclusive address. Jason Bourne star, Matt Damon is said to be buying a property near his close friend Chris Hemsworth.

BYRON Bay is about to add another Hollywood A-lister to its increasingly exclusive address.

Jason Bourne star Matt Damon, close friend to Byron local Chris Hemsworth, is said to be in the process of buying a property near Hemsworth’s Broken Head pad.

Damon, his wife Luciana Barroso and their four children visited Byron last April and returned for a New Year’s Eve party at the Hemsworth’s. The bash was also attended by Hemsworth’s brother Liam and his partner Miley Cyrus.

Now speculation is rife that the bromance has been sealed with a slice of a neighbouring property.

Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky purchased their mansion, which is currently undergoing an $8 million rebuild, for $7 million in 2014 and the property is surrounded by a handful of land parcels with stunning views of the Pacific.

There are no listings for properties nearby but one agent, who asked not to be named, said a deal with a neighbouring property was possibly negotiated on the quiet.

Byron Bay Property Buyers’ agent Chris Blann said many celebrities, such as Simon Baker who recently bought in nearby Nashua, found the laid-back lifestyle the perfect antidote to Hollywood.

“They come here because they are left alone,” he said. He refused to be drawn on which property Damon may have bought.

“It’s well known Matt Damon comes here with Chris, but we can’t confirm any property purchase, we buy with anonymity for our clients,” Mr Blann said.

While the Hemsworth home is being renovated, the glamour couple and their three children are renting the prestigious ocean view estate Titijaru which is rumoured to cost $1000 a night.
