Reality star chippy Konrad Bien-Stephen has come out as pansexual while revealing he and Abbie Chatfield had broken up a month before he began shooting new series, The Challenge.
Bien-Stephen, 32, is single despite confirming he and former Bachelor contestant Megan Marx had “hooked up” while filming The Challenge in Argentina.
“I have been thinking about it a lot lately and I would probably say I was pansexual if I was going to say anything,” he told The Daily Telegraph.
“For me, all of my relationships have been with females. It is hard to say because I want to be respectful in saying it but I guess I haven’t met a guy yet that I have wanted to date or sleep with in a sense. It is all so new territory for me to think about.”
He continued: “It is only a new thing for me to think about and navigate. Within the building industry, it is an interesting territory to navigate.”
Bien-Stephen is one of 22 contestants set to face off on The Challenge when it premieres on Channel 10 at 7.30pm tonight.
He compared the series, which has a prize money of $200,000, to a mix of “Big Brother/Survivor, a little bit of Love Island and a little bit of MAFS (Married at First Sight)”.
“It is a real mixed bag,” he said. “It is a bit of everything.”
Bien-Stephen works as a carpenter in Melbourne and rose to national fame as a contestant on Brooke Blurton’s season of The Bachelorette.
He and Chatfield, also a Bach alumni, then became an item and regularly made headlines as a couple, notably for revealing they had an open relationship.
“Abbie and I had broken up a month before going in the house (to film) so I was very much single,” he said.
“I wasn’t going in there looking for love or for any type of relationship or anything, that wasn’t my mindset going in.”
Of Marx, he said: “It is quite clear that Megan and I hook up from leaked footage and what has been spoken about already. We still talk, we are still friends. No, we are not dating.”
Bien-Stephen said he and Chatfield, one of the judges on The Masked Singer, “broke up amicably”.
“We have both moved on with our lives and that is what it is,” he said.
“It is not like we are in contact every day but there are no bad feelings there.”
