A motley crew of former reality stars, influencers and athletes will compete in the first ever season of The Challenge.
Confidential’s take on the show is that it is a mix of Married At First Sight, Survivor, Big Brother and Bachelor In Paradise.
There has been much speculation on the identity of the cast, mostly around the inclusion of Bachelorette contestant Konrad Bien-Stephen and his hook up with Megan Marx that led to the break-up of his relationship to The Masked Singer judge Abbie Chatfield.
Confidential can confirm Bien-Stephen is in the cast, as is Marx, who appeared on season four of The Bachelor and the first series of Bachelor In Paradise.
But there’s plenty more names that will provide gossip fodder.
The Bachelorette’s Brooke Blurton is on board, as is MAFS hothead Cyrell Paule, Olympic swimmer Emily Seebohm and David Subritzky from I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here.
Some 22 contestants will compete in the series that is hosted by Brihony Dawson and has just wrapped shooting in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A likely juggernaut for Ten, a broadcast date is yet to be announced. Contestants will be seen competing against each other in various challenges while living under the one roof with a male winner and a female winner to be crowned and scoring $100,000 apiece.
“The Challenge Australia will see an algorithm randomly pair challengers to compete in gruelling physical contests, test strategies, survive eliminations, cutthroat alliances and steamy hook-ups to win daily challenges and eliminate their opponents,” a press statement read.
“With old rivalries, new alliances, messy exes, and fractured friendships to navigate, who has what it takes to go down in reality television history, as Australia’s first Challenge Champion?”
Also from the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise are Ciarran Stott, Brittany Hockley, Jessica Brody and Kiki Morris. Representing Survivor is Brooke Jowett and Johnny Eastoe while one former MasterChef contestant is in the mix in Conor Curran and Big Brother winner Marley Biyendolo also made the cut.
Ryan Gallagher, from MAFS and I’m A Celebrity, is in the cast, as is Love Island’s Audrey Kanongara and Grant Crapp.
Pro boxers Billy Dib and Sugar Neekz Johnson represent the sport while singer Jack Vidgen, influencer Suzan Mutesi and Ninja Warrior’s Troy Cullen round out the cast.
As well as the prize money, the two winners will represent Australia internationally on The Challenge: Global Championship.
