DAVID Jones has taken a fresh new approach to its Spring collection show, opting for a new venue, fresh runway talent and the country’s coolest band.
Tonight Gemma Ward, Jarrod Scott and Montana Cox will join ambassadors Jason Dundas, Jesinta Campbell and Jessica Gomes on the runway at the David Jones Spring 2016 collection launch at Fox Studios, showcasing the store’s hottest new season threads.
Chart-topping band the Preatures will also take to the runway, performing their hits during the parade.
Campbell said despite having participated in the show twice before, the novelty and excitement still hadn’t worn off.
“It’s really hard to sleep the night before,” she admitted.
“I’m wearing a Bec & Bridge swimsuit which is really amazing; it’s a full piece this time around with cut outs. I really love my Zimmermann number; it really takes on the whole metallic trend we’ll be seeing this summer. It’s a real showstopper and quite glitzy.
Campbell said she had plenty of friends among the industry peers who will be front row come show time, but fiance Buddy Franklin would be cheering the loudest.
“Buddy’s coming, he’s going to be front row. I’m dragging him along and I’m going to get him all spruced up,” she said.
“He’s bringing his friend Drew Mitchell so he’ll have a date for the night while I’m going to be on the catwalk, so I’ve got those two to cheer me on.”
OPINION: FEMINISM OR VICTIMISM? BASHING MEN NOT THE ANSWER
For international male model Jarrod Scott, the show would be a completely new experience.
“It’s my first time walking for David Jones so I’m pretty excited to be back over working with Australian brands,” he said.
“I haven’t really done a show in a long time so it’s something exciting for me, it’s a bit different.”
The ambassadors aren’t the only celebrities descending on the Moore Park venue tonight, with front row attendees including Tim Robards, Tom Derickx, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, Justin Hemmes, Emma Lung, Kyly Clarke, Guy Sebastian and Alyssa Sutherland.
The department store’s top designers will also be watching their new season wares glide down the runway including Zimmermann’s Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, Manning Cartell designers Cheryl, Gabrielle & Vanessa Manning, Rachel Gilbert, Camilla’s Camilla Franks, Bianca Spender, Rebecca Vallance and Carla Zampatti.
