Why Jason is pumped (and ripped) for runway

IF Jason Dundas seems even more toned than usual on the David Jones runway, it’s not just clever lighting. The store ambassador has completed a personal training course and used his new skills to train himself ahead of Wednesday’s David Jones Spring-Summer collection show.

“I just studied for five months to be a personal trainer, and I qualified a week ago,” he said. “So that changed my mind about a few things, so I’m more relaxed than I used to be. I think understanding what to do allows you to have more control, but it’s my whole life. I work out every day, it’s kind of what I do.”

Dundas, 34, said while he’d be happy to plan some training sessions with fellow ambassadors Jesinta Campbell and Jessica Gomes, he didn’t think it was necessary.

“Maybe I can take them training but I feel like Jesinta’s pretty good; she’s boxing up a storm,’ he said. “I follow her Instagram and she’s always hanging off the roof doing pilates.”

Dundas and his fellow ambassadors will join dozens of male and female models on the runway at Fox Studios on Wednesday night for the event, which will showcase new collections from David Jones’ fashion brands including Zimmermann, Camilla, Dion Lee, Witchery, Scanlan Theodore and new men’s swimwear brand Boardies.

The LA-based TV presenter has had little time to relax since flying into Sydney this week, thanks to his new role as host of Seven’s The X Factor Australia.

“It’s very emotional, a lot more than I anticipated,” Dundas said of the new role, “because watching it on screen you just see the clips, but when you chat to the contestants for half an hour before they go on stage and they pour their heart out — it’s pretty emotional to go on that ride.”
