Filming of Samantha Armytage’s The Golden Bachelor has upset neighbours

The women cast to romance Nine’s Golden Bachelor Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden are keeping the neighbours up with their late-night cocktail soirees.

The Bachelor Australia set was notorious for infighting, bitchiness, breakdowns and scandals. However it doesn’t seem to be the case for The Golden Bachelor.

In fact, Saturday Confidential can reveal the women cast to feature in the upcoming series — which will be hosted by new Nine recruit Samantha Armytage — are getting along so well that their late-night shenanigans are keeping the neighbours up.

We can reveal residents near the heritage-listed harbourfront “Tresco” home, which is located in the inner city, have been complaining about noise levels during filming of the US franchise, which as the name subtly suggests, is geared at contestants over the age of 50.

Back in 2015, Confidential revealed producers were forced to apologise to Hunters Hill residents due to loud fights, uncontrollable sobbing and meltdowns from the young Bachelorettes who were cast for Ten’s The Bachelor.

Now it is the neighbours of the Elizabeth Bay mansion where Nine’s inaugural The Golden Bachelor series is being filmed who are less than pleased with production.

We hear the mature single women are having too much of a good time.

A few late-night cocktails, some gossiping about their date with widowed father-of-three and infrastructure engineer Barry “Bear” Myrden, and late night filming is reportedly to blame for the noise.

“These women are having the time of their lives,” one insider told Saturday Confidential. “They say it’s like the best slumber party they have ever been to. They are staying up and having a few wines with one another.

“There’s no infighting among them, only good vibes.

“Some of these women are widowed, some are divorcees.

“Many of them have trauma and grief which they are bonding over. Many are just enjoying some time away from their real lives.”

We hear when filming kicked off last month nearby residents were loving the commotion, however after back-to-back days and nights of filming, they are keen to see the back of Myrden and his bevy of women.

“At first they were standing on their balconies and looking on and really enjoying it,” another source said.

“Now they’re over it.”

Despite the series yet to go to air, gossip surrounding the upcoming reality TV series has been unstoppable.

Some of it true, some of it a stretch.

It has been revealed two of the women set to star in the reality dating series are The Bachelor star Abbie Chatfield’s mother Laura and award-winning radio star Bianca Dye.

This is true.

What’s not true is a recent report that the gentleman originally selected at the Golden Bachelor died.

“That is 100 per cent false,” an insider said.

The show is scheduled for release later this year, with new Nine recruit Samantha Armytage announced as the reality show’s host,

Armytage has recently appeared on Breakfast TV program Today to talk about The Golden Bachelor Australia, including what audiences can expect.

“This is for people who are looking for love again. I kind of love that – these are people with life experience, and it’s totally fascinating,” Armytage said.

“We’re looking for a happy fairytale ending.”
