TV personality Samantha Armytage and her husband Richard Lavender have separated after four years of marriage.
The Daily Telegraph can reveal Armytage and Lavender separated a few months ago, with the decision to split said to be amicable.
Armytage confirmed the news yesterday.
“Yes Richard and I have separated. All breakups are hard, but it’s somewhat lessened by the fact it’s amicable and we wish the best for each other,” Armytage said.
“I appreciate you respecting our privacy. I won’t be making any further comment.”
Armytage, who recently revealed she was jumping ship from Network Seven to Nine last month, has moved out of Lavender’s Southern Highlands home and is now believed to be back in Sydney.
Her split from the well-known horse breeder comes as Armytage has signed on as host of Nine’s reality dating show, The Golden Bachelor.
The couple secretly tied the knot on New Year’s Eve in 2020, just 20 months after meeting through a mutual friend in April 2019 in the Highlands.
It was a low-key wedding, with a small number of close family and friends making their way to Lavender’s 40-hectare property.
Armytage announced their engagement on social media, with a loved up post which she captioned, “What a year…”
Armytage has said on a number of occasions of late that she had begun a new chapter in her life, often when referring to the change from Seven to Nine.
“This is part of a fresh start for act two of my life,” she said in November.
“I’m happy with the person I’ve grown into, and excited about the adventures lying ahead.”
The Golden Bachelor, which is a modern twist on romance for the golden years, is a huge hit in the US and tipped to be a success here in Australia.
Armytage recently appeared on Nine’s Today to promote the program and said: “This is for people who are looking for love again. I kind of love that – these are people with life experience, and it’s totally fascinating.”
Armytage has also revealed she recently turned her star power to a new cause, helping find homes for puppies at Guide Dogs NSW. In her new role as a Guide Dogs ambassador she will help place several new litters with “puppy raisers”, where they will live for 18 months before they return to be trained as guide dogs.
