One of the secret locations for Channel 9’s The Golden Bachelor is fittingly one of Sydney’s oldest harbourfront trophy homes, Tresco in Elizabeth Bay.
No confirmed sightings yet of host Samantha Armytage at the 1860s house, but neighbours became alert to the prospect when filming equipment recently appeared in the grounds of the 3300sq m home.
It’s all a surprise to Sydney City Council, who are continuing its inquiries.
The Golden Bachelor production crew had “inquired about using the internal building as a location,” a council spokesperson told Sydney Confidential.
“As it’s a private property this does not fall under the jurisdiction of the City of Sydney. If the crew required anything externally at the site (i.e. parking, outdoor filming or any production etc), they would need the City’s approval.
“However, we’ve not received any queries or applications from them for any of this.”
Filming on private property Filming on private property does not need council consent but the lodging of a filming management plan.
The management plan needs to include start and end dates, crew size, details of temporary structures, parking arrangements any expected disruption to the surrounding area such as noise, vibrations, release of smells and the use of lighting or special effects.
Tresco is a stately sandstone marine villa which dates back to 1868, when designed by colonial architect Thomas Rowe as his home.
For nine decades it was the home of Navy rear admirals until its $9m sale into private hands in 1997.
It last sold in 2004, with the $11m transfer into the name of Janette Waterhouse, the then wife of entrepreneur David Waterhouse, son of the late bookmaking legend Bill Waterhouse. David gives the seven bedroom, four bathroom Tresco as his address on ASIC documents.
The television show which is about finding love again for people in their 60s and 70s did its casting call last November after it was formally announced last October.
There’s been no airdate confirmed.
The Golden Bachelor is being produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia.
Warners were “looking for fun, active, and outgoing male seniors aged 60 or over who are divorced/widowed and open to meeting the next love of their life.”
Unlike the drama of the Bachelor and Bachelorette series, the Golden Bachelor franchise is apparently more about genuine connection and companionship.
So perhaps the Council hopes the neighbours won’t even know of any amorous night-time coupling.
Having been most recently host of Farmer Wants a Wife, Armytage left Channel 7 after 21 years last October.

MAFS star’s pregnancy news sparks curiosity
Reality TV star Domenica Calarco has revealed she’s expecting her first child, but her announcement has sparked curiosity regarding the possible absence of a father.
The Married At First Sight star shared the exciting news in a heartfelt Instagram video, receiving a flood of congratulations from friends and fans.
“Been a little MIA working on my greatest project yet .... Baby,” she captioned the sweet post.
However, some followers quickly noticed that her partner Jarod Bogunovich was missing from the clip, sparking speculation about the status of their relationship.
With much of the couple’s social media content now removed, Confidential believes the pair may have parted ways and have contacted Calarco for comment.
While there’s been no official confirmation from Calarco, she recently commented on a TikTok by influencer Sasha Morpeth, who spoke about a break-up following a “hard launch.” Calarco commented “Join the club babes argh”, hinting at her own potential split.
The couple went public with their relationship in September 2024, with Bogunovich even getting her name tattooed on his arm.
Taking to TikTok, Domenica attended Jarod’s tattoo appointment where he got her name inked inside a champagne bottle on his bicep.
Calarco has previously described their connection as a healing journey, even calling him her “soulmate” on social media.
At 14 weeks pregnant, Calarco, 28, is due to give birth in September.
US SINGER AND AUSSIE GIRLFRIEND OFF TO WEDDING OF AFL ROYALTY
American country music star Zach Bryan is in town, and he’s found himself an Aussie beauty.
She’s Hannah Duncan, a 27-year-old partner development manager based in Byron Bay.
The couple is set to attend the wedding of AFL legend Billy Brownless’s daughter, Ruby Brownless, to Josh Wallis in Noosa on Friday.
Confidential believes Ruby and Billy don’t personally know Bryan, 28.
Originally from Melbourne, Duncan had two romantic outings in New York with Bryan in the last week alone.
Just four months ago Bryan had a highly publicised and messy break-up with Briana LaPaglia (the pair pictured inset).
LaPaglia, who claimed to have turned down a $12m nondisclosure agreement, publicly spoke out about alleged emotional abuse during their relationship.
She said she was blindsided by the split, filming herself in a tearful state in her bathroom after what she described as an “incredibly hard year”.
“My face is swollen because I’ve been crying for five days straight,” LaPaglia said, revealing that she only learned of their break-up when Bryan announced it on Instagram.
“I will not accept any (nondisclosure agreement) money. I think it’s beneath me. I think it’s f..ked up,” she added.
INFLUNCER’S DNA DEMANDS FOR BABIES
Aussie influencer Veruca Salt, real name Kimberly Hartley, has come under fire for recent comments regarding her preference for having “Black” children ... and her decision to start a GoFundMe campaign for IVF support.
The 26-year-old, who has 1.3 million TikTok followers and is known for her sex work on OnlyFans, was criticised after complaining on social media that there were “no Black donors” in Australia.
“Respectfully I’m not having one of those blue-eyed blonde-hair kids,” Hartley wrote to her Instagram story on Tuesday.
“They cute or whatever but it’s kinda giving Children of the Corn.
“I carry the gene for blue eyes and blonde hair and I just need someone else’s DNA to drown that out x.”
It comes after Hartley’s six-week-old son Cash, who was of African descent, tragically died in his sleep in February 2024.
“Obviously I want his siblings to be similar in features, which is completely normal. If I had never had a baby before than I would do just any donor, I wouldn’t care,” she added.
Hartley’s comments quickly attracted criticism, with many calling her remarks “inappropriate”.
“That’s pretty f..ked to say … imagine if roles were reversed, we would be called racist,” one user wrote.”
“I love her and feel terrible but this is not it,” another said.
When Confidential contacted Hartley, the influencer said her posts were “a joke”.
A year after her son’s tragic death, Hartley launched a GoFundMe campaign titled “Help Me Make a Baby”, which was eventually taken down after reaching its $10k goal.
However, the fundraiser sparked criticism, particularly given Hartley’s prominence as an influencer who gained money through her OnlyFans content.
In 2020, Hartley revealed she earned $15k a month on the platform, prompting many to question why she needed donations.
