The state’s most notorious former bikie turned playboy is set to plead guilty to affray for his role in a rooftop bar brawl that allegedly left a 24-year-old personal trainer with a broken nose.

George Bejat, an alleged member of the Brisbane chapter of the Comanchero bikies from Hamilton and Newstead, will enter his guilty plea to the charge of affray in a public place while adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, in return for prosecutors dropping a more serious charge of assault occasioning bodily harm, in company, and while intoxicated.

The affray relates to an alleged incident at the Dirty Sultan bar in Fortitude Valley for the Hot Balkan Nights event on April 18.

Bejat is a convicted cocaine trafficker who favours designer labels, has a playboy reputation and was in court earlier this year after he was pulled over by police for broken tail lights on a 2018 model Bentley Continental which sells second-hand for as much as $484,000, and once owned a yellow Lamborghini Gallardo with number plates SRB PWR.

According to documents filed in a bail application for his co-accused, and childhood friend Zivko Stojakovic, Bejat is alleged to have instigated the attack, a second associate is alleged to have joined in, then Stojakovic is accused of running towards the melee from inside the dance floor then punching the man.

Stojakovic is charged with affray and assault occasioning bodily harm, in company while adversely affected by intoxicating substance. He has not entered a plea.

The alleged victim told police in his statement that the fight began when Bejat, who appeared drunk, fell into him, landing in his lap, as he sat in a booth in the open-air rooftop bar.

Police allege CCTV shows Stojakovic throwing punches at the man, and the alleged victim took photos of his injuries while at the rooftop bar before going to hospital.

In Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday, a police prosecutor told Magistrate Michael Quinn that she would be offering no evidence on the assault charge, once Bejat is arraigned on the affray charge on December 5.

“In relation to charge one the prosecution will be offering no evidence upon the defendant being arraigned for the second charge, of affray, which is to occur then on the fifth of December,” the police prosecutor told Mr Quinn.

“So the trial date will end up being a plea on that date, is that what it is?” Mr Quinn asked.

“To charge two, Your Honour,” Bejat’s solicitor Kristy Bell replied.

The case had been due to go to trial on that date, but Mr Quinn delisted the trial and said that Bejat, a personal training business owner and former owner of a fish and chip shop owner’s bail could be continued.

Ms Bell told the court that top silk, and Sarajevo-born Bejat’s usual representative, barrister Michael Copley KC would appear for him at the sentencing in December.

“Mr Copley KC is briefed, he will retain the brief for the sentence and if the matter could remain as listed for a sentence on that date in relation to charge two only please,” Ms Bell told the court.

Bejat was last year convicted of consorting with recognised offenders, who have been convicted of indictable offences, six times between March 14 last year and June 13, and fined $1000.

Bejat was president of the notorious Centro chapter of the Bandidos when the former Newman government introduced tough new anti-bikie laws after the infamous brawl at Broadbeach.

He was charged in relation to the brawl but escaped with a $1750 fine.

The case returns to court on December 5.
