Sherwood’s Tom Baulch first man into the QAFL squad of the week while the Gorillas also celebrated

Sherwood pair Tom Baulch and Toara Marango were the first men into the QAFL squad of the week while the Gorillas also celebrated a victory in round 10.

Thomas Baulch produced arguably the performance of the round to be first man picked in the Squad of the Week, while Wilston Grange also enjoyed success in round 10 of QAFL action.

The Sherwood Magpies soared to one of its finest ever wins in recent times with an upset victory over Morningside

Front and centre and everywhere else in between was Baulch who, along with centre half back Toara Marango, was nominated by coach Adrian Fletcher as best onground.

Six goals told only part of the story as he engineered Sherwood in bringing down top three side Morningside 16.13-109 to 14.6-90 in a Saturday afternoon thriller.

After the teams were level pegging throughout the first half, Sherwood won the third and fourth terms 8-7 to 5-1 which was enough to raise the home side to victory.

Morningside coach Clint Watts said wingman Darcy Cameron Reeves again shone while Tom Griffiths worked overtime as a running defender.

Wilston Grange led all day in dousing Mt Gravatt 14.11-95 to 10.16-76.

In a local derby, Broadbeach 13.8-86 overcame Palm Beach Currumbin 5.5-35.

Jordan Moncrieff kicked another six goals to make it 35 goals in five games, but coach Craig O’Brien heaped praise on half back-cum-centreman Lucas Jellyman-Turner for engineering the pathway to victory.

PBC’s midfielder Ashton Crossley toiled away all day.

Redland Victoria-Point enhanced its percentage with a 21.15-141 to 6.9-45 victory over Noosa.

It all started in the ruck, according to coach Phil Carse, who nominated ruckman Jarrod Huddy and midfielders Caleb Franks and Scott Miller among his best.

Small forward Matt Warren and the inform Peter Yagmoor at half forward then did their thing as Redland produced an eight goal second quarter effort to blow a hole in the match.

Noosa’s Seb Rogers and Rylie Buntain (both across half back) did well.

Maroochydore flexed its muscles with a 13.3-81 to 6.4-40 over the visiting Surfers Paradise.

Full forward Mitch Scholard was in great form, grasping five goals which changed the course of the match according to Maroochy coach Andrew Cadzow.

There was not a struck match between the sides across the first half, then Scholard went crash and bang and Maroochydore were in front and headed to victory.

According to Cadzow, he received grand support from wingman Liam Jacka, midfielder-cum-small forward Darren Tanti and Jack Whalley across the halfback flank who intercepted well and snared 12 marks.
