It’s almost time to pop the popcorn as Wynnum’s first cinema in more than 40 years starts to come together.

The historic development, also accompanied by a 66-apartment residential complex and retail space, is close to completion with the doors set to swing open on the 550-seat cinema in March next year.

We have the first pictures from inside the $35 million project from Berrima Develop Pty Ltd, which has been decades in the making and is expected to employ more than 150 people.

“Even though we’ve been able to make significant progress during the COVID period, our opening date hasn’t moved from March 15 next year.

“But hopefully that means there’ll be no restrictions so baysiders and people visiting the area can come in and enjoy the venue in its full capacity.”

Mr Ham, who is responsible for more than $75 million of developments in the Wynnum CBD including the Wynnum Health Hub, the Waterloo Bay Hotel and more, said the project was all part of his five-year plan to deliver an entertainment precinct to Wynnum.

“It has been a long, up and down, on and off road, but I didn’t give up I felt this was to happen and will happen, so exciting times are ahead,” he said.

“I feel the whole area is going to see the benefits of our efforts, I see house prices increasing over and above other areas, personal living satisfaction and our children live in a better safer place.

“I look forward to moving with my children into one of the apartments later this year to live again on the bay.”
