One of Queensland’s biggest leagues clubs has swung open the doors on a historic multimillion-dollar development in what will be a major boost for the venue’s future, according to officials.
The Carina Leagues Club last week launched the newest additions to the Creek Rd venue, including an innovative new sports bar called Sidelines and The Hive – an outdoor alfresco dining cafe.
Officials had a soft opening for the projects, which have been almost a decade in the making, after construction started in late August.

The new sports bar and cafe is a Queensland-first for a leagues club in the state, according to officials, with the cafe also allowed to have different opening hours compared to the main venue.
The completion of the project comes at an important time for the venue after taking a hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, which even forced them to cut more than $600,000 of funding to local sports clubs.
“The COVID-19 virus, like many businesses, forced the club to review its existing operations,” Carina Leagues Club chairman, Wade Core, said.
“In doing this, management determined that there was a need to provide facilities that would enable the club to not only remain relevant with our members, but also attract additional members and guests to the club.”
Mr Core said the sports bar and cafe would revolutionise the club, which has been open since 1970.
“The sports bar, Sidelines, contains cutting edge technology including an enormous LED screen with unbelievably clear definition that will entice members and guests to spend their days and nights watching all types of sports in absolute comfort,” he said.
“The cafe, The Hive, offers both indoor and outdoor options and opening at 6.30am will service the community with either takeaway or dine in coffees and food.
“The outdoor seating provides the perfect setting to catch up with friends.
“Each venue has an individual food offering which when combined with the existing bistro allows our members and guests the choice of three different menu options.”
