A BIG menu using locally-sourced ingredients and a relaxed vibe make Uno Caffe and Pizzeria the perfect place to enjoy a meal, drink with friends or a cuppa.

Melissa and Dan Costelloe jumped at the chance to be part of Strathpine Centre’s redevelopment more than three years ago, opened the licensed restaurant, which makes full use of inside and outside space, more than three years ago. “The main reason we built this is it’s a place that everyone can come to,” Melissa says.

They offer a full restaurant menu with a selection of woodfired pizzas, pasta, burgers and much more.

Melissa says they try to source most of their ingredients locally — produce from the centre’s green grocer and meat from its butcher.

And they serve Vivo coffee which is supplied by a Morningside roaster with the same family ethos.

Uno Caffe and Pizzeria is open five nights a week and seven days.

There’s all you can eat pizza and pasta on Tuesday and Wednesday from 5-8pm for $20. On Fridays you can enjoy $1 chicken wings, or three chicken wings and a beverage for $10.

Crepe and Co, Strathpine

WHEN asked for the secret to the perfect crepe, Crepe and Co owner Anna Yildiz is reluctant to give too much away.

“Everything is fresh … that’s the main secret. We don’t use anything pre-made. Everything is fresh on the spotand And we make it with a smile,” she says.

Anna and husband Ummit opened the business at Strathpine Centre in August and still run Grab A Kebab in the complex - a venture they started 15 years ago. “This shopping centre was missing something, crepes were missing,” Anna says.

And there’s not just the sweet crepes you would expect — there are plenty of savoury options on the menu too. The chicken deluxe is popular, as is the Crepe and Co Favourite. with chicken, mushrooms, capsicum, cheese, shallots and secret sauce, and so is the Crepe and Co favourite with chicken, ham, bacon, mushrooms, cheese and spinach. They also serve waffles, honey puffs, Dutch pancakes, gelato, even bacon and eggs and French toast.

While customers love the end product, they also enjoy watching their food being made, with all the action in plain view.
