The major makeover of a busy retail centre north of Brisbane has attracted a host of new tenants to the area including an American burger restaurant, a new cafe, steakhouse and retailers.

Morayfield Village Retail Centre, situation next to Morayfield Shopping Centre, was left quiet after the exit of collapsing department store Harris Scarfe.

It was tipped to be transformed into a giant Kaufland hypermarket after the German retail chain bought the centre for $20.5 million.

Early in 2020 Kaufland pulled the pin on its Australian plans.

Since then the centre, which has changed hands several times, has been restored to its former glory attracting a number of new tenants to the region.

Subway was relocated from the adjacent shopping centre to this revamped outlet.

Mr Toys Toyworld has remained, along with Rivers.

American burger restaurant 5 Boroughs opened its first north Brisbane outlet at the retail hub on Thursday.

A Choice Liquor, steakhouse and Repco are also tipped to be making the centre home soon.

North Lakes local David Burrow with his wife Kristina hope to open Stellarossa in the centre early next month.

Mr Burrow has lived in Narangba before moving to North Lakes and said Morayfield was a hotspot for new business.

“It is growing and it is only going to get bigger,” Mr Burrow said.

Stellarossa will open next to Subway and is expected to initially create 20 new jobs.

“There is a lack of offerings that isn’t fast food in Morayfield and feedback showed that people were looking for something that was a little bit more special than Maccas.”

Mr Burrow said the cafe would be open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch and open for dinner from Thursday to Sunday.

In order to avoid offering the same or similar menu items to neighbouring food outlets Stellarossa will serve up pizza, pasta, salads, seafood and have options for vegan and vegetarians.

The produce will be sourced from local growers and suppliers.

Once the renovation is complete it will feature indoor dining and an outdoor alfresco dining, as well as a children’s area with a chalk wall and other entertainment.

“We will be catering for all budgets so there will be something for everyone,” Mr Burrow said.

Customers will be able to view the menu, order and pay using QR codes on the tables.

A number of other new dining outlets have recently opened in Morayfield including a Taco Bell. A GYG is also in the planning process.
