A New York style burger chain is opening it’s biggest restaurant yet at Morayfield Village, giving up to 60 locals new employment opportunities.
After a five year journey to secure the 400 square metre space, the sixth 5 Boroughs restaurant is set to open its doors in early November.
Owner Todd Clayton said the new restaurant would open at the Morayfield Village Retail Centre, where the Harris Scarfe business used to be.
“It’s been completely renovated since it was purchased,” Mr Clayton said.
“It’s going to be able to seat 200 people at tables and about 40 people at the bar.
“We’re so excited to bring our business to Morayfield with our biggest venture yet.”
Mr and Mrs Clayton said the local area holds a special place in their heart.
“We owned a cafe at Morayfield about eight years ago and really know and love the area,” Mr Clayton said.
“I think it’s a really untapped area.
“It’s an up and coming area with a huge population growth but not many businesses and restaurants available.
“We’re hoping to bring a bit of a city feel with our opening to this more regional area.”
The concept and brand name, 5 Boroughs, is owned and was created by Todd and Marisa Clayton, back in 2014.
The first restaurant was opened at Stones Corner, and since then they have opened four others.
Mr Clayton said to him their restaurant is about that ‘New York state of mind;
5 Boroughs provides full table service and has a bar inspired by the tastes of New York. Since 2015 they have been serving up hand crafted burgers, New York style sandwiches, wings, tacos, waffle fries, steak and pork ribs.
There is also a full cocktail and bar menu, with eight beers on tap.
Mr Clayton said they would eventually look at live music nights too.
“Once we get things up and running a bit,” he said.
“We have a manager and she’s living locally....but we’re yet to hire any other staff.
“To run the place we’re going to need 50 to 60 staff members...of any ages and any experience.
“We like to have mixture of casual, part time and full time staff.”
The owner also teased that on the Saturday after the opening (the date has not yet been finalised) ten lucky locals would have the chance to win a burger a week for a year.
“There will be more information coming out shortly,” Mr Clayton said.
Opening hours will be from 10.30am until late, and the opening date will be announced soon.
