Most horrific things said by SEQ criminals revealed

“Mummy is going to be sleeping for good tonight” — some of the bone-chilling words to be uttered from the mouths of criminals have been heard before stunned courts. Here are some of their terrifying statements.

Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt me.

Well, according to crime experts, words can and do cause great harm.

Griffith University psychology and criminology expert, Professor Grant Devilly, said words could have a lasting effect on victims involved in violent or threatening situations.

“When an event like that occurs it can actually continue to be a current event in their (the victim’s) mind,’’ Professor Devilly said.

“There is a percentage that get post traumatic stress disorder, a percentage that get depression, and a percentage that get anxiety.’’

Southeast Queensland courts have been told of bone-chilling statements made by offenders.

Here are the faces behind some of the most shocking words spoken in the past 12 months.

After she left Lakatani called her, saying “get your arse back here and pick me up … or I’m going to burn the house down”.

The teenager asked several times for her to leave the vehicle but Barrett refused and demanded he drive, threatening him.

She lifted a bottle of alcohol above her head stating: “You have to drive now or I will hit you with it. Shut up or I will kill you.”
